Building What’s Possible
CSUN President
f you come to campus this spring, you’ll see a university in motion. New buildings are rising. New programs are launching. Thousands of students are preparing for graduation and careers that will redefine what’s possible.
This issue of CSUN Magazine features some of the remarkable facilities that have opened their doors across campus in recent years, spaces designed to give our students the environments, tools and technologies they deserve. Innovation labs. Simulation centers. Creative studios. From healthcare to engineering to the arts, our students are learning in spaces that mirror the workplaces they’ll lead. That’s intentional. At CSUN, career readiness is central to everything we do.
We also celebrate milestone anniversaries for our American Indian Studies Program and our annual Powwow, one of the largest university-hosted gatherings of its kind in the nation. For decades, these traditions have honored the first peoples of this land and continue to create space for students to explore their own identities, and share their cultures and experiences with the campus community.
You’ll also meet Maria Martinez ’22, whose work is a powerful example of how a CSUN education creates ripples far beyond campus. Through their nonprofit, Firme Coding, Maria is teaching computer programming to people rebuilding their lives after incarceration, opening doors that too often stay closed. Maria’s work proves that education transforms lives, and that transformation multiplies.
And I’m thrilled to share an exciting update: CSUN’s 4th Annual Giving Day shattered every previous record, with thousands of donors stepping up to invest in our students’ futures. Such generosity reflects the deep belief our community has in what CSUN is building and the Matadors who will change the world because of it.
To all who make this university extraordinary — our students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends — thank you for helping CSUN shape a brighter future for all.
With gratitude,
President
